one good job done today.
the oil pressure always read low on the car despite things being apparently well internally.
all clearances on the crank were fine, a bit on the wide side but within tolerances.
wondered if the oil cooler and its long pipes were affecting things?
knew others have run similar so didn't think it would be a problem.
so the gauge or sender were suspected to be faulty and reading low.
the decision was made before cadwell that as it hadn't blown up by then i would run it anyway!
so today i connected up a smiths gauge, an oil fed old style one rather than the alfa electric type.
much relief all round when the cold idle oil pressure rose nicely up to 60psi with the alfa one still only showing around 25-30 like it always has
must say, it's a real relief to know that the pressure is fine on the engine. after all the changes to oil pumps, crank being polished, oil cooler added etc etc it's great to know that the engine might actually hold together
