few more little jobs done this afternoon. work this morning then been to sort out getting some paint on
found a little water leak, kind of happens when you don't tighten the rad fan switch
car idles better now, due to putting the manifold down both
oil temp comes up nicely, no leaks from the oil lines. cooler warms up fully across it's entire surface so pretty happy that all the air has been expelled
dug out a couple of sud wheels to fit on the back while i wait for the spacers, can come down off the stands tomorrow now
so while the sun still shines (talk of rain tomorrow
) i set about having a better look at the hatch & bonnet.
bonnet seems pretty sound, not much repairing to do. little dent on front edge but mostly knocked that out.
hatch has some rust around where the window sat at the bottom, as they all seem to do. the glass actually is incredibly heavy, at least half of the weight of the whole thing
lexan should help that save some lbs
repaired and treated a few bits and pieces. filled in the wiper hole too with fibre glass but think i will weld a patch over it instead tomorrow, quite a big hole to ask the fibre glass to hang onto without falling off despite being dented in to give it some depth. can just imagine slamming the hatch and a lovely hole appearing
found my S2 rear spolier too, which is my favourite design. so decided i would fit that too.....but not sure it will look ok now though, doesn't follow the lines of the hatch too well.
