show was good mate, a long day though.
was due to get off from my place by half 7 this morning but my 2 workmates didn't arrive until 8. can't argue too much though, one of them was working until midnight on his house restoration and the other didn't get in until 3am as he plays drums in a band
long day at the NEC, great cars there, had a chat with jonathan trinder again who has a superb series1 ti. the AROC stand had a boxer engined theme this year so a couple of suds, couple of sprints and the
arna were on show.
lancia stand also had some great cars, 3 or 4 monte carlos, a nice integrale evo, beta coupe volumex, fulvias, etc.
one car, well van really, did catch my eye.
an old austin van that had been very well restored. as you walk round you inevitably end up at the sharp end and expect to see the usual immaculate undre bonnet area with an asthmatic "A" series under there.
but no, as i looked i couldn't see it
a bit closer look and things looked familiar but out of place, something not quite right, where was the engine?
then it dawned on me as i got close enough to actually see it.
a sud engine
what a beasty.
had a race spec 1.5 sud engine rated at 165bhp, toyota M50? gearbox, RWD of course. just looked the dogs
shame the owner wasn't around to get some more information other than what was on the spec sheet.
sorry for the crap pictures, got my mate to take a couple with his i phone and mail them to me.
nice day out all in all
mike & ed from the wheeler dealer show were there and on form. also carl fogarty and frankie chili on the live stage, foggy as witty as ever
didn't get anything for the sud though. went armed with ideas of seeing the wilwood stand and pestering them for brake calipers, no stand there.
also wanted to have a look at the digi dashes, same again.
think i will have to go to the autosport show in january for the dash, will see about the brakes.
