slept on it shrew mate, but you've about spelt it out exactly
silver one will become the 16V road/track car for me to do as i please without worrying about spoiling the pedigree.
can see me keeping it for a very long time for sunday blasts up in the wolds
the other ex rally/race car is destined for greater things. all to be revealed in about 9 months time as it will be stuck to the back of the queue like shrew says, and not have much done to it for a long time.
but i can say it will be pretty unique. will incorporate some ideas from other cars, and elements that i've done before. but will 100% be not
for the road
enought of that.
so with new found enthusisam (rodger says i've put on weight lately
) i got down the shed to finish off the 16V engine so it's ready to bolt in when the time comes.
decided to use the original oil pump mainly due to not being able to find another one
but from what everyone tells me it will be fine. all timed up nicely so the distributtor will line up correctly.
set about having a go at making a crude baffle for the sump. seen ones with trap-doors and the like which i'm sure work fine but this system (copied form pics fruity sent, cheers mate
) is a lot simpler which just aims to keep the oil from sloshing up the sides when cornering.
also made a little channel for the oil returning from the o/s head so it drains into the area instead of behind the new addition.
it's angled so it misses the dipstick
engine about as built up as it will be before it goes in. might fit a bit more bits & bobs but it's easier to fit the engine without all the extras getting in the way, cam-belt covers will go on though.
soon get cracking on the bodyshell
