finally got all the valves lapped in now, hate that job so pleased it's all done
will build the head up tomorrow night.
finally got the 3 oilway core plugs that i've had trouble with
ordered what i thought to be the usual/correct size ones a week or so ago only for them to be a poor & loose fit, so ordered some .5mm bigger.
once again they were a bad fit, took a tap or 2 to get in but once in they didn't seem tight enough. played on my mind thta all wasn't quite right, don't want the oilway to suddenly sprout a 14mm exit hole
so looked back through my records of previous builds and indeed the first size i ordered was correct, but on this build i used a different supplier.
new core plugs arrived today from the supplier i've used before without problem and i'm pleased to say they fitted perfectly.
just goes to show, if you have a supplier that gets you parts that fit properly then don't shop around to save a few pennies
of course that now means i can paint the block......
also spotted another rally pic that may be of interest. for one thing it proves i did once actually have hair
but behind our rally car sits my mate (and rally co-driver) pauls' alfa 33, a series1 by the looks of it?
this car had a pretty hard life with him as he was very enthusiastic a driver but maybe a little too much. after a few accidents and repairs at his home it finally ended upside down in a deep ditch near where i live now, about 20 feet drop from the roadside.
it did get repaired again but ended up about 3/4" shorter down the nearside
and at that time also got changed to red. looked a treat with the red paint and black door frames
