Yes the engine cranked normally.
It was smoke, it smelled like smoke too. I don't think I could be able to see some steam at this period of the year in here where the temperature is 30*C at 09:00 AM.
Oil is clean and not contaminated. I have experienced ones the mix of oil with water but not in any of my alfas. It happened years ago to my Opel Ascona (
crap cars anyway) and the oil got milky/mayonnaise color and got thick. After the engine got all into peaces
Since then I check the oil level and oil condition every morning before I start the engine.
I service my 33 every 5000 km. I don't know about the head gaskets because this car came from Italy and was a garage car not an everyday car. It has some history on the past and it seams that the italian owner used to care about it.

Well I'll keep an eye on the water level this days even I didn't happened again until now. Did 350 km yesterday with no problems. I hope everything is fine.
