If the discs that you have are not vented then the vented discs will make a big difference to the cooling of the discs and are basically the minimum requirement – the calipers will be wider to allow for the wider disc.
The 1.7 discs are 239mm by 22mm wide – I thought all 1.7’s had the vented discs. This disc is also used on the later (33 type suspension) 1.5 and 1.7 Sprint. The 16v 33 and 4x4 33's also used this same disc AFAIK.
For brake pads then try Ferodo DS2500 - these are the best pads I've tried and work very well at road temperatures but can easily cope with track day use.
What colour is your car BTW - some colours look a bit odd with the Zender kit.
