The wife called her mother this morning, all her family live in a village in the ukraine, sort of inbetween poltava and miragorod and this week at night its been -31 and in the day about -12 although thats not that unusual in winter for them, its like going back in time when we go back there, lada's and moskvich's everywhere and those big old russian trucks
-31 mate that doesn't even bare thinking about!! Doesn't anti-freeze freeze at those temperatures
They must use the thinnest oil ever?
They use a mixture of stuff, antifreeze + something else & there is vodka in it I seem to remember?! sure there is... (no supprise really)
Anyway I have been there once when it was that temp and I remember the ukranian blokes showing me that if you spit on the floor it freezes after about 5 seconds, frightening really, in summer its the complete opposite it can get up to about +40, think its to do with it being in the centre of a large land mass or something. Not sure on oil thickness, I will try and find out next time we go over, not many diesels over there, everything is petrol / gas, even those big army trucks are petrol/gas v8 or v12 engines
Yes no health & safety there mate, the taxis are on gas and the bottle is a standard orange type on the back seat or in the boot (anyway no more thread hyjacking colin, sorry mate) I take it you've decided to hold off on painting the shell till it warms up a bit? heating or no heating...
Thats ok Adi mate i don't mind a bit of banter, not like there's much else going on at the moment
Yeah i'll leave the shell alone now till it warms up, i have a space heater but its barely making in dent in these temperatures and it'll cost a fortune to run it all day. I'll crack on with getting all the fidly jobs out the way in the mean time so once i do get it painted in march (hopefully) it should fly back together
I'm starting on the front struts this weekend and i'v noticed the shocker boots are split, does anyone have any good second hand ones they'd like to sell? I'v seen the hungarian guy on ebay has them for sale but they'r £40 inc shipping
Been cracking on lately and got a bit more done to the s1 Got some detailing bits sorted around the windscreen and front end i wasn't happy with. Finally got the body in its 4th and final coat. The back axle is now in and got her down off the jig only to find one of the mountings had come away so ill have to drill a couple of holes in it and get it spot welded. Not too much of a trauma tho as i'v got another coat to put in the boot anyway.. Won't be too much longer and i can finally start putting her back together
