Brighter dashboard lighting
Ok, the 33 series 3 are great cars.
I love almost everything about them but one of the things I definately hate is the dashboard lighting.
I think most cars of that era didn't have very bright lighting for the instruments...
Does anyone have any ideas for a brighter dashboard?
I've tried using high-brightness LEDs today.
I used white-coloured 10000 mcandle (or something like that-couldn't find any brighter) LEDs along with a 1KOhm resistor. The colour of the light came out light blue since the caps for the (yellow?) lamps are blue (yellow+blue=that faded green look we all know...).
The situation improved slightly but since the LEDs' light is more directional than normal halogen lamps the dashboard has a few bright patches where the LEDs are and the rest is a bit more faded.
I'm thinking of using a smaller resistor (something like 750 ohms) but I don't know if the LEDs can take the extra voltage. Anyway, even if they get brighter the problem of light diffusion and uniform lighting remains...
Does anyone have any better ideas?
