Well, we didn't do too badly - we finished 8th out of 19 entrants & 3rd in class but lost about 40 mins in the pits in 2 unscheduled stops to repair the gear selector. As a result we were 8 laps behind the 7th place team. Brunswick Motorsport did a fabulous job to keep us going (as well as fed & watered). On pace we should probably have finished 5th overall & were running 4th at the time the problems manifested themselves.
It was a really enjoyable day though & the car performed very well & was a pleasure to drive (the gear problems were driver induced). I am massively grateful to Mike (Alfaracer156) for the chance to share his car; it was a great occasion & great to be part of a team effort & share in the banter, camaraderie, team ethic etc etc. Proper endurance racing.
19 entries was still a bit disappointing (esp as only 16 took the start) but its an event that is growing from scratch & I really do recommend it. There was great atmosphere between all the terams & it was good to meet & make new friends. Its an event designed for club level competitors & for people like me its probably my only chance to get out & be part of a proper endurance race. It was great, & all you Sud/ Sprint racers should really try it next year. Its an ideal car for the task!
