I don't know if anyone else has bought a new grill badge from our friend Peter yet. I finally decided to risk it and bought one a few weeks ago. I say risk because I wasn't 100% sure it would fit my series 3 grill, however with a little adjustment it's perfect and looks fantastic.
I decided to post a few pictures of my adjustments.
First off the badge is exactly the right size, the only problem is the location pins are top and bottom rather than left and right. THe old badge is shown on the left, new badge on the right:-
I could have simply cut the pins off and glued the badge on. The problem with this is that there is a fixing screw for the grill behind the badge and this would be a problem the next time I wanted to change the timing belts. So I decided to see if I could rotate the pins 90 degrees.
First I carefully prised up the soft metal rim around the back of the badge which holds the whole thing together. Then all I had to do was rotate the back 90 degrees. The picture below shows the three parts of the badge:-
If you look closely you can see that the badge is notched so that the back locates into it and it's is notched so that the pins can be orientated vertically or horizontally.
To finish off all you have to do is carefully fold the metal rim back down to clamp all the parts back together:-
Now I have a new badge the grill looks shabby, it never ends.
