Thought I'd start a new thread as I had some things changed on my car recently.
I just had a new crankshaft pulley installed as the old one was not original and was too small. Only 58mm!!
A new alloy 122mm one was made and fitted.
I told the guys to put a 10 x 850 belt on the car. They put a 13 x 838 on!
I thought everything was fine until these last few days.
1) Above 82 degrees there is an intermittent squeaking noise. Every half second or so.
2) I initially thought they had damaged one of the bearings using a pneumatic wrench to remove the crankshaft pulley nut - but the noise is intermittent and only starts above 80 degrees. Wouldn't the noise be constant if it was a bearing issue and when cold also?
3) Maybe as the pulley is 13mm and when the pulleys expand when hot the pulley is squeaking
. It's too wide?
I will change the pulley to a 10 x 850 tonight to see if that makes a difference.
Can't imagine it being a valve/tappet issue as it sounds more like a squeak and I have 300V 15w/50 racing oil in the engine designed for high temperatures.
Any ideas/suggestions of what it might be?
