I'm currently rebuilding a 1.7 16v engine for my white Sprint.
The car now has a 1.5 carb engine which I honestly dont know WHY and HOW its still running.
I havent got the luxury to stop using the car, as its my daily driver and I dont want to use my 33 in the rain.
So, I need to get the 16v engine ready and all nesessary component in order for the swap to happen overnight
Issues I have sorted out :
Front crossmember of the 16v is already on the car - even if its running with a 1.5 engine now.
Carburator adaptors from ebay already purchased a while ago and will be installed when finishing the engine.
Issues I need your input :
1 - Ignition - As I'll be using the carbs and not the injection system, will I need to install the same distributor on the 16v engine as from the 1.5 ?
2 - Fuel - As I wont have the mechanical fuel pump on the engine block of the 16v now, can I just feed the carbs with the electrical fuel pump of a 33 - located at the rear of the car ?
3 - Throttle rod on carbs - can anyone confirm if I will need to make the connecting throttle rod of the standard 1.5 engine longer in order to fit this setup ?
I will be currently using the 32's delorto carbs that I have running on my 1.5 engine and I will change them to 40's webber later on.
