Digging up an old thread here related with the main bearings and colours/tolerances.
Just happens to be yours supercharged16v
I have purchased Glyco standard main bearings and just used plastigauge.
I was not aware about the different colours and not even sure if I can get them now.
Peter was out of standard size original bearings so Glyco here in Uruguay had to do.
After measuring them mine are on the limit. 0.058-0.062mm between the 3 main bearings.
Factory specs state max is 0.063mm and min 0.028mm.
The old ones have this on them:
The new Glyco ones:
Part Number: 66326RA
Chemical Properties: Unleaded
For bearing clearance from: 0,024 mm
For housing diameter from: 63,663 mm
For shaft diamater from: 59,944 mm
Quantity Unit: Pair
Supplementary Article/Supplementary Info 2: Aluminium alloy on steel base
Thickness: 1,841 mm
To bearing clearance: 0,072 mm
To housing diameter: 63,673 mm
To shaft diameter: 59,957 mm
Width: 23,400 mm
I need to use the plastigauge to measure the old ones today and see the difference.
Maybe if I can get some originals slightly fatter, maybe 0.01 or 0.02 mm, then it will close the gap up to keep the oil pressure higher.
