I have been watching your build with much interest, your metal working skills are second to none. I once met a panel beater who restores cars using the metal only, and your work reminds me a lot of his. You will have a brilliant Sud when finished, these cars are very rare these days and more rare to find one with all metal and not plugged up with filler.
The level of rot on your car is unbelievable. I own a 1977 Series 1 Ti and the chassis is totally rust free, only the body was significantly eaten around the windows, which I have been repairing on and off for 10 years now and want to produce a car similar to the standard of yours - I did manage to find new panels in Germany such as a bootlid and front guards.
I have a couple of questions as I could only find a brief reference to it in your thread but no photos;
I am looking at replacing the rear valance panel as mine has suffered an impact at some point, where would be the best place to find one of these panels? I am fairly sure the original valance on my car had the exhaust indent as the car now has (indent was introduced in 1976 onwards?)
Do you have any photos of its repair or replacement on the car? My car has lost the seams that sit behind the bumpers due to a poor filler repair job in the past.
Sorry if I have hijacked your thread, please PM me if you want.
Keep up the brilliant work!
