Now that winter is almost here and some of us, if not most of us here in the UK have taken our Suds, Sprints and 33s off the road until spring. I just wanted to know really how you guys keep them maintained over the winter? as this is the first time for me that the Sprint will be stood for a while as a complete car.
Mine goes under it's breathable cover with the handbrake off, battery disconnected and the windows wound down. I will fire the engine up about once a month for a few minutes, and if the roads are bone dry I might even take it for a spin round the block.
Some people raise their cars onto stands to protect the tyres and you can place some of those little moisture absorbing satchets into the headlights.
If your car is stored outside it's recommended to check the freezing point of the
coolant, and the windscreen washer fluid. Filling the gas tank full will prevent the
corrosion inside. If possible put the battery on a regulated charger for a few hours
in every month to restrict/remove the sulphate layer build up, until you hear fizz
from the battery, because running the engine for a few minutes will re-oil the engine,
but not enough for the battery.
