been down to the sud today, and rich has too.
hope he's happy with progress.
will let him have a word on that.
the doors took a fair old amount of time to get right and do look about there now. just a little bit of alignment to do on the drivers wing to get the swage line right, won't be a problem.
bottom half of the car is now in primer although it still needs a bit of fine tuning.
after rich had gone home i stayed on and had a look at a few things, see what to do before the rugby started.
a few jobs i've got lined up, remove the folding sunroof for one.
but i decided that the wiring loom was just too intrusive in the engine bay and bulkhead to make painting simple so thought i'd better take it out.
not as simple as it sounds as it also runs behind the dash to the instruments/speedo/ignition etc.
so, out with the dash.
out with the full wiring loom, all of it. all through the engine bay, across the inside of the front panel, fuse box, in car etc.
i've brought it home with me so will give it the once over. most of it is covered in the usual debris collected over the last 25+ years. it also has a few added wires that look to have been a combined alarm & immobilisor. will bin all that. any terminals that are iffy will be re-soldered and any wires that show resistance will be chopped out.
a messy and sometimes never ending job checking every wire & terminal but having done the same to my sud then being pleasantly surprised that things electrical actually work, and work well, it's time well spent
also got a window surround to shot blast as it has a good layer of surface rust. it should fit nicely in my home made blast tank, then will primer it before taking back to jim.
will leave the pics to rich, if he wants to upload any?
at my upload limit now so will have to go through all the old pics and delete some
