Long-time reader, short-time poster here
When I take off quickly from the lights in my 85' 33 1.5, the entire front end skips and jumps around quite violently, left to right and back and forth, and hardly even grips the road!
It didn't used to be this way!
Now this COULD be cos of my superior stupidity with what I've put on the front-end, however initially there wasn't a problem, but over recent times it has got dramatically worse...
I'm running 17x7" rims with 205/40's. Stock rims for this car are 14x5.5" with 185/65 (I think?). I've replaced the standard suspension with a pair of 2-year old Gabriel gas strut/shocks on the front which are not adjustable. Aparently these struts/shocks were standard on the Series 2 model 33s?? I'm also running standard springs.
Now please don't flame me because I already know how dumb I was to put such big rims on this car, but what can I say, I was young, and it looked sooo, sooo good :P
As I said above, I didn't notice a problem when I first put the 17" rims on, but now it is terrible!
I havn't had a chance to put stock-size rims and tyres back on the car to see if it makes a difference, but I will soon...
Any thoughts as to why I am having such traction issues, and possible means of fixing the problem would be most appreciated...
