After engine rebuild - increase jet sizes?
I'm curious as when my engine was rebuilt and larger pistons put in would this change the need to increase the size of the carb jets?
The factory standards for my 1.7 are 52 idle, and 142 mains.
The 52 jet was too lean. I recently changed it to 55 which I think is just a tad rich but accelerates brilliantly with no hesitation (but more black soot on the tailpipe).
I will be buying some 53 and 54 sizes to get it spot on.
Now my main hasn't been changed, 142, it runs ok, no spitting or hesistation, but now if the idles needed to be increased (much easier to detect), do you think I should increase the mains maybe up to 143 or 144?? Seems to struggle when I get to about 140 kph.
Difficult to judge, maybe I'll fit a lambda. I'm getting a new mid section next week so I might buy one with a lambda screw fitting.
What are your opinions?
When engines are rebuilt and rebored do the jet sizes/mixture settings generally need to be readjusted?
Thanks in advance
