My 33 QV did 280,000kms ( @ 175,000 miles ) in 10 years was used as a daily driver, never left me stranded . The kind ******* who bought it hit a kerb on Christmas eve , left the engine in the garden, and parked the car in some poor peoples living room with them in situ he and his 2 mates exited the premises at speed . He had given me a false address

So , yes if as stated above you look after it it will look after you and give you years of fun and many smiles per mile + the fabulous boxer soundtrack

Good luck in your hunt

I wouldn't recomend a 16V if spending money on it is an issue. It will not be as reliable as the 8V. A friend of mine had a 1,7 8V ie and when he sold it the speedometer read 400.000 km on the same engine. It did blow a head gasket doing he ownership, but hey He was 20 years old when he owned it so it got full throttle most of the time.
