Still got the K&N filter and chip and Recaros, but the previous guy put a hole in the front exhaust manifold so just for the moment it's got a standard exhaust. Also back to standard belts. 4WD working fine, but gearbox rattly and at the moment a bit of a stutter when you put your foot down (like old plugs, though I've just replaced them), though revs up fine standing. Fuel? or airflow sensor? Will replace with another sensor and see. When get engine running nicely will either sell or fork out to get gearbox reconditioned. Also I replaced the right hand inlet manifold as it was very slightly warped and replaced the speedo which had stopped working. The white dials had bubbled up so I've taken them out for the moment, but will print out some more sometime. The posy blue dash lights are still there though. The engine has only done 11,000 since it was rebuilt so should have a lot of potential. Nice car! What are you driving now?
Am also putting a new gearbox in my old faithful series 2 black 1.7 with stainless exhaust, spots and fishnet headrests and will then look around for a decent engine for my white series 2 1.7 to complement it.
wow. a lot seems to have changed since it was mine.
the white dials i made but never installed and i never did anything with blue lights!
but i wish i had.
the gearbox was a rebuilt one when the engine was put in. err from memory the engine was put in about mar/april 2001.
i wonder if my uprated clutch is still in there? helix padle clutch.
you say the 4x4 works. this might be why the gearbox isnt as good as it should be. the old mag coupling on the back of the box was shot. i had a spare one but i forgot to give it to the guy who bought it from me.
its gone now. so the box might have been swapped out.
my brother has a red perm 4 now. he loved mine so much he went and got his own. he had gearox problems and it turned out to be worn bulk rings on most of the gears. only cost him about £400 i think all in from a place in leatherhead, surrey that only does gearboxes..
err i'll look them up.......
