Thanks a lot Lonewolf/Greek.
Sat morning I will take the car out and resync the barrels. I have a feeling that as it became out of sync (rocking), that one side became richer, possibly contributing to the already slightly rich mixture.
I'll remove both throttle link arms and resync with my gauge. Have a sneeky feeling that one of the vacuum ports was giving me inaccurate readings, so I will try the front ports.
I balanced front to back, and then left to right using the back barrels.
I had a slight rocking even when both matched which was confusing (hence the thought that one port was giving a false reading).
I'm using just one gauge at the moment connected to a series of fish tank air valves, so I can just easily turn each one off and on between ports.
I'm planning to get the morgans 4 column manometre from UK when my parents visit (next March
So Sat I will readjust both sides until there is no rocking and its smooth as silk, then readjust the mixture screws leaning them in.
p.s alternator bracket was not needed in the end. caught Kev just before he sent it
Very kind people on this forum
Got 2 weeks vacation beginning of Aug so planning to take out the AC, put in some new radiator fans and new plugs (once mixture is right).
Also getting second hand door seals/window trims, and complete wiper motor/linkage/arms from a S3.
a new exhaust needs to be fitted also - I like the sound of the Remus, Sebring and Ansa (Remus is my fav so far).
