33 1.7 ie 8V Suspension Rust
Recently purchase a 1994 33 1.7 ie 8V to race. The car has already been prep'd, roll cage, interior stripped, fire extinguisher system, race seat, harness etc. etc. The last owner had the car for about 3 years but did little with it and while the body appears okay some of the suspension components are looking pretty rusty.
I only just got the car home Saturday and while I poked around it at the time of purchase (about 2 weeks ago) it was raining etc. so up on a floor jack and in the sunshine I've started to have a better look, to be honest it doesn't look any worst than it did upon inspection, but there are some jobs to be done!
I'm also finding out exactly what I've bought, the discs are drilled rather than standard and the brakes lines look braided, none of which were mentioned by the seller, not sure how much he actually knew about the car, the pads have quite a bit of meat on them, in fact they look new.
Anyway I don't like the look of the springs and the top plate looks none too clever either, it's a 3 bolt unit and when you look from under the bonnet all looks good. At a minimum it all needs to come out to be cleaned and treated I'm guessing, at worst it all needs to be renewed.
