Just another quick one. My rev counter isn't working on the Sprint and I just wanted to know where it reads from. I have been told that the reading may be sent from the coil or the alternator but I just wondered if anybody here knew.
Went through checking all the connections first on the coil and gave them all a dose of contact spray and then the same again on the cluster. Still nothing. Then I noticed that the actual needle was below the pin on the face of the rev counter. The needle is very warped and had some how dropped below the pin. So had the cluster in pieces and placed the needle back above the pin. Put it all back together, put it back in the Sprint and tried it and it works. The needle was just catching the pin but it was enough for it to stop it working.
Probably worth having a close look at the needle on yours Melv, it may have done the same thing.
This may be a common problem as I noticed that both the speedo needle and the rev counter needles were warped/bent on the instrument pod that I took out of the 6C. but mine were bent away from the pin and catching on the clear plastic face
