No spark for my Alfa 33

Good Day
Hope all is well
I am currently working on my Alfa 33 and the distributor is getting no spark from the coil. I have tested the wires going into the coil and they are live. but still no spark to the motor. How can i check if the coil is working correctly.
The car started the first time while i was setting the timing but after i moved the position of the distributor the alfa lost its spark. do you perhaps know ho i can fix this problem?

also check if the (+) cable on your coil gives 12v when ignition is on

Also check the condenser and points gap. I strugled 3 monthes with my sud and in the end it was the points gap and wrong replacement condenser.....

I replaced every part of my ignition system without results

Hi Craig - I'm assuming your 33 has electronic ignition? This makes it a bit more difficult to check if the coil is OK. What you need to remember is that the electronic box is just a switch to earth. If you put +12V onto the coil "+" terminal, and then briefly touch the "-" terminal to earth, the coil should produce a fat spark from the HT lead, if it is close to an earthed component (like the engine block).

If you jump a +12V live to the coil and use a flying lead to ground the coil "-" terminal, you can bypass the ignition module and the distributor, either of which may be suspect.

Hopefully it is the coil, diagnosing faults in either the ignition module or the distributor could be more tricky...

Good luck!
