I have never had a gearbox failure , a rarely change brake pads and my braking is always good. I am trying to teach that to my wife ( unsuccessfully though ) but i dont worry to much since her car has ABS. But she has already changed pads 3 times and she is not driving fast like me.
I currently live in Uruguay and my girlfriend is Uruguayan. When I first got into the car with her I noticed quite a few strange driving skills.
First she didn't change down any gears when slowing down. She just put the car into neutral and braked.
Second when she was driving on the motorway and needed to slow down just a tiny bit she would press in the clutch every time for no reason!!
I asked here why she didn't use the gears to slow down, and why she was in neutral, "They taught me to do that in driving school 15 years ago, that's how you should do it!!"
OH YES she also rests her foot on the clutch!!
Well its taking some time and effort (after many heated discussions) that she CANNOT rest her foot on the clutch, she SHOULD be in a gear when she slows down, and DOES not need to press in the clutch when slowing down. Oh yes also always in the wrong gear. Car struggles/jutters when coming out of corners cuz she's always in 3rd for slow corners.
She's improved greatly but still has a problem with changing down gears. Still just slams it into neutral and brakes for example the traffic lights.
She'll also change gear after exiting corners (going around in neutral)
Got to save up and buy her a Fiat Panda so she can drive how she wants!
I've almost given up drinking just so she doesn't need to drive after we go out at the weekend.!! Lol
