Power steering problem

Hi there,

I noticed that recently the power steerin on my 33 doesn't work at it's full capacity, ever since the weather started getting colder (bellow 0). BTW, the oil that I have in the steering system right now is ESSO 10W40. I know I should use ATF oil. This could be the problem ??? I only have problems with the power steering when it's cold; in the summer ev is OK.
And if I should change the oil, what do u recommend? SELENIA GI/A it' OK ?? Or something else ? Tnx a lot. Bye.

Happy New Year !!!!!!

ATF contains different components to normal engine oil, and is specifically designed for transmission and power-steering applications. It would be unwise to use normal engine oil, as it can increase wear on components, and maybe cause the sluggishness you are seeing. Does it improve when the engine/steering has been given a good work-out and is fully up to temperature?
Drain and replace with ATF would be what I would do.

I would use Shell Dexron III.

try also to replace the belt, it could be old and maybe it slips in the cold?
mine does this in the rain, it slips sometimes ..
