Im still waiting for my sud to come home from the body shop ... its there being done in-between other jobs to keep the cost down
so while im waiting i have done a few bits on the gearbox / gear lever (another thread), this weekend i did the coilover struts and recon'ed the front hubs...
if anybody fancy's coilovers check out rallydesign.co.uk, they do the kit i went for and it gets rid of those problem spring pan bearings and spherical bearing top mount gives very good strut top location
VERY basically.. chop the top of your strut to remove the std location for the spring pan bearing.. i actually made mine a little shorter to help stop the strut bottoming out,..
( im also fitting adjustable Koni reds at the same time)
cut the threaded collar to length, to sit on top of the steering arm section
i also made up a spacer to locate it at the top as the id of the collar is 51mm, the strut od is about 45mm...
weld the collar on!!
the kit supplies the spring seats and locking rings, i made / modified my top mounts out of mk2 escort mounts
also while i was at it ... front bearings out of both hubs, new bearings / shot blast hubs / convert from studs to nuts ... ( apply loctite 271 at will )
its all drying of now after a coat of black , not bad for a weekends work!
if anyone want a crack at theirs give me a shout and i can maybe give some pointers
