i have heard that you can't do it, something about cylinder wall thickness, the guys here say 1600cc is max,
I am going to get my sud somewhere in the vicinity of 1600 as supersprint racing here 1.7 puts you in the same categorie at the 1750 105's alfetta's gtv's (2litres) spiders and 75 twin sparks, 156 147 as well hence i am not going to run a 1.7
However you will have to get the front suspension from the 1.7 if you are wanting to run 1.7 brakes at the wheel hubs in the 1.5's do not support alfa vent dics from any of the 33's that had them standard so try and get a 33 ti 1.7 that's had a hit up the arse, i'm trying to do that with the sud but they are no easy to get, if you see myself and simon here caused so pretty intense discussion about air cleaners, at the moment i'm trying what simon's doing and modifying the standard air box and running a k&n element (yes K&N coz us aussies can't afford to get the stuff you sell up there) however the airbox and alluminium carby tops do end up being quite heavy. Also there is two different types of air box one which has a bit that takes the air from away from the heat and another which takes it from right on top of the engine block.
So i can well see the arguments that some of the guys of the aircleaner thread had against pod type filters hioever every car that races with a boxer engine up her uses pod type filters so i couldn't tell you on that one, but i find it ghood to see someone building a 33 race car coz everyone has a sud (not criticising their taste) but i would like to see a 33 or a sprint (i'm planning on building a sprint once i find a good shell that's cheap)
so good luck and feel free to ask me any more questions
