Alfa 33 Permanent 4 drivetrain shudder
Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to eliminate the drivetrain vibration from the centre diff of the Permanent 4? I have always wanted one but the only one I have driven had a bad shudder under the centre of the car when going slowly around tight corners. Does anyone know if this is 'normal' as I have been told or is there something that can be done? I believe there was an Alfa Technical bulletin to cure this when the cars were new which involved modifying the centre diff clutch plates or draining some of the fluid out- this presumably reduces drive to the rear wheels- has anyone tried this, if so how does it change the way the car drives? Also has anyone tried replacing the diff rubber mounts to solve/reduce this problem? the rear mount appears to be a 75/Alfetta style and readily available but the front mount is NLA in Oz, does anyone know where they can be purchased and how much? Lots of questions I know but advice on any of the above would be appreciated.
