I have been researching intake/exhaust options for my 10/84' 1.5L dual carb 33 and can't find alot. The main reason I want to modify these systems is because I'm looking for a _cost-effective_ way to increase power from 3.5G's and upwards, and have been told intake/exhaust mods are the way to go.
Does anyone have any good ideas for intake other than trumpets or expensive air filters/ram-pods from K&N etc..
Have been thinking of modifying the airfilter box to allow one or two flows of cold air from vents in the front bumper, getting rid of the standard filter in the airfilter box, and putting smaller foamy filters at the beginnings of the one or two cold air flow pipes (at the bumper vents). Anyone have any comments on this idea, or any others?
I have also been looking at exhausts, and am unsure of what sort of system to go for... something standard with greater bore, a crossover system, etc?? Extractors?
The standard system has two hoses running from the beginning of the exhaust up to the airfilter box, forcing it through the engine again... Can someone explain what this is supposed to do, and how it works, because I sure as hell can't work it out... And on my new system is it important to keep this section of regurgitation or not?
Also, does anyone have an idea of the maximum width for the exhaust piping on a 1.5L for best mid-high rpm power increases? Ive heard not to go bigger than 2 or 2.25 inch, because if you do, you will actually LOSE power...this goes for the tip aswell... comments?
Lastly, what are the issues that one should look into before modifying carbie jets to bigger ones in the hope of increasing fuel flow??
Thanks for your time,
84 1.5L twin-carb 33
