ok ok here is the total list of everything i've dont to my now lovely car..
day -1 (november 1st 2000)
£1300 insurance!!!! (that what you get for being 21 and getting a cool car)
day1 paid £900 for the car in faily poor condition. £90 road tax and £150 front tyers.
soon after I had the car the 4x4 stopped working. so i took it to my local garage and they found out that some loser had wired up a manual switch to the 4x4 relay and burnt out the electromagnetic coupling. and a few relays and a load of wire.. tut tut.
just to find this out cost £171!
to fix it would cost well over £1600 so i left it for a while.
then to get my insurance down i fitted a cat1 alarm £363
next i caught my exhaust on a speed hump and
needed a new manifold etc £93
now cames the expencive stuff. front suspention+springs+bearings, breaks all round, 2 rear calipers. poly suspention bushes fitted, full oil change + diff oil+gearbox oil and a full servce and 4 wheel tracking. £1420
here comes the body blow.. car running fine and all being well until. I was going fairly fast racing a nissan sunny GTI-R (2.0 turbo 16v 0-60 6secs top of 150ish) and i was just infront (dont ask how) as the rev limiter kicked in @7000rmp in 4th. i went to go for 5th.. oh no.. thats not 5th.. **** thats 3rd!!!! ahhhhh (this whole thought process took about 1/2 a sec) in this time i had over reved the engine to 12500rpm! and guess what.. i started to slow pritty fast after that. I had to join the AA (£88) to get my car to the garage and then they had a look..
here comes the parts list.
rebuild gearbox with new case, new recon block (mine was shot) compete with pistons and cranck etc. 2 new heads. 16 new valves, oil pump, 4 new cams, all new followers, new cam belt, clutch, slave cylinder, 4 injectors, rad fan, oil filter, gaskets, rear light (needed doing anyway), fuel filter, dizzy cap + points, leads, plugs, cam tensioner pullies, sundries and loads of oil, clutch and brake fluid and anti freeze.. full rolling road tuneup, all this and the labour with VAT cost £2912!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but being an alfa nutter i didnt stop there. no way was i stoping now.
full stainless steel exhaust system (custom one off dyno tested and rolling road tuned) 1 off custom remapped ecu and a K&N induction kit. £700ish
+£140 on the insurance.
moved house. +£60 insurance.
fix the 4x4 £150 parts (secondhand from alfasalv) fitting £400
and i've just gone and got a load of stuff for the brakes. £300 for sports discs and pads all round.
next month.. 17" wheels and suspention,, £dont ask.
and on a cheap note. I'm making my own fiberglass NACA duct bonnet vent. £very little.
total.. ahhhh ! I didnt think it was that much.. £9149 so far..
