Don't get me started on this scrappage scheme
Its just such an obvious way of keeping factories churning out new cars that people don't want/can't afford. I will never, EVER buy a new car. I'd rather walk. So if the Government think they can get me to subsidise our failing foreign car assembling industry they can think again
(I'm into re-cycling, you may have noticed
I'm with you Lauren, I dont need a new car, and cant afford one I like anyway
You dont need to get excited though. You dont HAVE to scrap your car with this scheme. Its only an OPTION.... which by the way most people in this country went for it
Someone who loves older cars can benefit from this scheme because the owner who didnt love his Sud Ti for example will rather scrap it than fix it so he can get money instead of pay. That gives me the benefit of paying him whatever he would get from the goverment and buy the car off him
On the other hand you will notice that crappy old cars will get more expensive !
A friend of mine bought a rusty old Mini for just 50 pounds before this scheme.
Now for the same Mini, if it has MOT and road tax the owner would ask for about 450 pounds becuase thats what he will get if he scrapps it
... or even worst, he can ask for 800 to 900 pounds for his rusty old mini , if he is planning and can prove that he will buy a Toyota Prius - Duracell powered Jap Crap
....its kind of ..... stupid
