Alfa 155 Q4

Alfa 33 1.7 IE throttle body question

Hi - I am very new to 33's. I have just bought one to have fun with while my 155 Q4 is broken (which is almost always..) Anyway, I was replacing a couple of leaking water hoses etc, after just having acquired this thing, when I came across a couple of issues. I have read the manuals that are online, but here are my issues.

1. there is a connection on the bottom of the throttle body that had nothing connected to it - also the vacuum advance unit on the side of the distributor has nothing connected to it? Are these two ports supposed to be connected together. Is it just a direct connection with nothing else on line?

2. is the muffler in the picture also supposed to be a 'catalytic converter'?

cheers, jimn~

The vacume hoses you mentioned are as you mentioned on mine, under the throttle body the hose connects to the dizzy, and yes that massive cannister is a cat, i just got it cut off and replaced with a resonator, just make sure you put on a decent muffler on
