Re: oil coolers(any noticable improvments or problems ?)

I used one with a thermostat when I was racing. I don't think it is needed for road use. Perhaps a better idea may be a bigger sump with anti-surge gates. Try fitting an oil temperature gauge to your car and moniter how hot the oil gets.
When I changed to doing hillclimbs, I blanked it off as the oil never got warm enough and even on a hot day on the road the oil never got much beyond 60 degrees.

Hi Lee, I havent had a chance to check for the cam covers yet but I dont hold out much luck. You wont need an oil cooler on the car. I had one on my race car and the oil ran at 115 I had an engine failure so had to bin the cooler and now run with out it and the oil runs at 120-125 degrees on a hot day. It takes a good few hard laps to get the oil over 100 degrees so dont waste your money fella!
