I've had it with the suspension of my sud !
Now that I've sorted out the mapping on my white 33, the oil leaks from the oil pan of my black 33, and with the red sprint in good progress, I decided its a good time to sort out my Sud's suspension once and for all !!!
Got a new battery, new rear shock absorbers - dual shock gas/oil Monroe- , good second hand original sud hubs, good second hand original front springs and shock absorbers given to me by my friend George, and good second hand drive axles but with cracked cv boots.
I pulled the car into my garage and its now on stands !
Question number one :
I found that there is a crack on the inner chassis between the wheel and engine bay. Has anyone else ever got a crack there ? Could this effect the steering when accelerating as I was told ?
Question number two :
The drive axles I've got on now have no adaptors. They are bolted on directly to the inboard disks on the gearbox. The ones I got today came with adaptors. These adaptors are about 1cm thick. I've also got a pair of thicker spacers/adaptors as well that are approx 2cms thick.
These adaptors/spacers, go between the axle and the gearbox on each side !
I remember when braking a sprint many years ago, it had a thick spacer on one side and a thin one on the other side.
Does anyone know what the story is with these spacers and if i should use them or not ?
If I should use them , do I put a thick one on one side and thin one on the other ? or two thin ones ? or two thick ones ?
This is very confusing
