I ran a 33 1.7 Veloce as my daily for 4 years. All it needed was a water pump, a starter motor, engine mounts, plenty of petrol and a heap of money for the Grp 14 insurance. It was 8 years old when I bought it.
Prior to that I ran a Gold Cloverleaf Alfasud (twin IDFs, leccy windows *and* a sunny roof, ahhhh) as my daily, for 5 years. That used a clutch, a wheel bearing or two, a whole sill, and plenty of petrol. It was also 8 years old when I bought it.
I've spent that cost during each
year of 156 ownership
They really didn't give me much trouble at all. You get to know the synchromesh hassles, and learn to blip the revs off idle before you engage the clutch, but most of all you learn quickly not to touch the fragile switchgear and door handles with heavy hands!
Q. Why did nobody want that S1 Sportwagon 4x4 on Ebay this week?
