My Sprint is no longer my daily driver ! I gave it a good wash and polish and it now sits " undercover " next to my van , waiting for the 16v engine to get ready
Not that anything has happened to it, but I already pushed my luck way too far and I didnt want to drive it until it spits a piston, incase I need to move it around
Black 33 16v moved into my garage last night. Exhaust, crossmember engine and gearbox out, the prepaired 1.5 carb engine with an older gearbox and a crossmember of a 1.5 33 are now on. Pushed it out of the garage this afternoon so I can park my white 33 safely
I do have a few problems to deal with though.
First of all I needed to see if I would keep the power steering on the black 33 or if I would move it onto my sprint as well. Then I found another power steering system altogeter so I decided to keep the current one on the black 33 and have it as an optional for later when working on the Sprint !
Problem is that the 1.5 engine I put now on the 33 has no holes on the block to mount the powersteering pump and also the crank pulley is only for 1 belt ! I will need to fabricate a new bracket for the pump and either change the pulley to a double one or mount everything on one belt
Then I have the fuel system to worry about. I need the bigger feed pipes for later for the sprint and I have to remove the fuel pump from the 33 as it will now work with a mech fuel pump !
Will have to swap tanks altogether
Finally I have the wiring to do. I removed everything on the 33 related to the bocsh motronic and left only the starter and alternator cables. May have a bit of a problem with the coil , but thats a minor problem to worry about so I can get the black 33 running as a daily workhorse
I use my Sud now as my daily driver and my white 33 in the nights for social visits and stuff ....
I hope these blacks and whites and 16v's and engine swaps isnt too confusing... I confuse myself sometimes
