All done and ready for the road, just have to put some petrol in and then see what breaks next I have a good feeling about this time, I know the overheating and cutting out are sorted and the new box has a good history so I guess this is it. I will take her out sometime over the next couple of days and if your reading this Andrew maybe at the weekend we can get together and do some videos and post them on here. Watch this space as they say
you want to tell me you finished the car, only needed petrol to take it out for a spin, and you didnt
How on earth did you manage to do that ?? I wouldnt be able to sleep !!!
I'm sure it will be fine this time Eddie .... Not to mention that this is the first time you are optimistic yourself about the results
Chris the reason for not taking her out is simple...it had been raining, was still very wet and as I still don't know the car I thought I better act on the side of caution. If I get home early today I will see what I have been missing.
Sorry I did not update sooner but had a busy day..... Yes its true, I did go out yesterday to see how things were and this is what I found.....new box shifts very smoothly and its temputure went to 125 degrees by the time I got back to the garage which was a big relief so the box was good and the Shogun trans cooler is doing a cracking job, engine temp went to 180 and fan came in regularly, oil pressure was 60+ on tickover, chargeing at 13volts unless the fan came in then it would drop to 11volts, there's a vibration which happens under accleration but is not present under "normal" driving it could be due to the torque converter but I will have to look into this otherwise the car felt good. I have a kickdown cable on its way for those times when the bolt on billy boys want to try their luck and I have been looking at a new set of aluminum heads with full roller rockers to replace my mates stock 69 heads, these should be good for 50-70 bhp which should take it over the big 300 and with torque already over 300 I don't know how high this would go. So next is a long drive at the weekend (depending on work) to see how she is at speed and some videos by Andrew to tease you all, then hopefully some shows but as the 'new' weather forcast now says rain for the next few weeks who knows.
Thanks to you all for the positive words and for taking an interest.
tell you what ! .... Borrow Eddie's Sud, I'll borrow Sixnut's 6c and we can find out !
..... or not
The Sud is set up with fully adjustable race suspension on the front and rear, the engine and box are 3/4's behind the front wheels,it was built for the track not the strip and as I say to my mates with their drag cars lets have a race around a roundabout, they would kill me on the strip but on a track
A world class T5 manual box is already being sorted from some contacts in the states but will not be fitted for some time.
