Thank you bluesuit... seems it was a valid question to start with.. so its halfway between s2 and s3... got it, and it was the 4door without the hatch, since they were still busy making the hatch version. The 2 pictures of the s2 and s you posted are great, though they look almost identical. Im guessing the major visible differences would be the wheels and the hatch of course. Can you maybe tell me why my headlights are rectangular, instead of round? or did this just happen during the transition phase? Thanks alot for all the replies and insight!
As greek says, your Ti is based on the 4 door saloon which came with one piece rectangular headlights. Only the Ti Variants had twin headlights (I know yours is a TI, but it's not a conventional Ti!!) I think the light assemblies are interchangeable, but the 4 headlamp Ti needs a different (more expensive) front bumper to house the indicators.
From the front the differences between the 2 door S2 Ti (on left in my picture) and 3 door S3 (Right) are in the details and internals:
S2 differs from S3 in that it has: chrome bumpers with indicators on top (S3 black plastic bumpers with integral indicators and deeper front spoiler that integrates with wheel arch trims) and small round repeater at the front of the wing (S3 rectangular and behind wheel), headlamp mounting and trim were different (not interchangeable between S2 & S3 variants), front wings were different (S3 has cutout for wrap around indicators on saloons - like yours + different repeater), wheels were steel (Early S3 had steel with black plastic centres like yours, replaced by alloys with wider low profile tyres on later Ti variants), the S2 Ti engine had a single twin-choke carburettor (S3 Ti has Twin Twin Choke Carbs (105 BHP) - though there were interim variants using the Sprint Veloce 95 BHP Twin Twin Carb - yours might have this engine). S2 interior was much simpler, less modern looking and less refined than the S3 which had an all new Dashboard and seats with rear fold-down seat back to make best use of the hatch. At the rear, hatch and rear wash wipe is the key difference on S3 though from a distance not that obvious as the rear body profile did not need to change. The S3 rear light clusters are bigger with integral reversing and fog lights. The S3 bumper is plastic and deeper and the Ti rear spoiler is larger and more wing like than the one on the S2. S3 Ti exhaust has a twin tailpipe.
Side picture below probably gives a better impression of how simple the S2 looks against the S3.
The Alfasud Collectors Guide book by David Owen is a good book covering the whole history of the Alfasud and Sprint and has a chapter on the evolution development and introduction of the S3 if you want the full spotter's guide.
