Re: Alfa 33 1.7 cloverleaf veloce 1990 HELP!!!!!!
If it is a fuel vaporisation problem the pump may be at fault if it cannot pump in enough fresh fuel to counter the loss due to evaporation. The standard boxer mechanical fuel pump (for carbs) has a very low delivery pressure (2-3 psi at 3000 rpm or thereabouts), so could well be the culprit.
However, I would check the ignition coil (which might be internally arcing - had that trouble before) and the ignition timing (the engine could be running hot, so maybe over-advanced), just to be on the safe side.
Check the pump for a blockage in the gauze filter before condemning it completely - it might just be a blockage in the line, and easily fixed.
Good luck LampyGreg - let us know how you get on.
