Twin lobe cam tappet adjustment
Hi everyone - in order to get my transaxle refurbished my '82 1.5 Ti engine is out of the car, so I thought I would take the opportunity to check and adjust the tappets when they are all accessible (its complicated on the Green Machine by the main chassis rails passing over the top of the cam covers).
The engine is the 95 bhp type with twin lobes on the cams and the Allen key adjusters. One of my inlet valves had to be replaced and it seems to be more tappety than the others, but I'm going to check them all for adverse wear as I run the engine hard on unleaded fuel (97 Octane admittedly, with an anti-recession additive, but you never know!)
I've never adjusted the Alfa tappets before - can I use a standard Allen key to get to the adjuster, or will I need to modify a key as suggested in the Haynes manual?
All advice gratefully received!
