Thanks for that I have now discovered that the exhaust valves ARE the same size as the 1490 301.46 engine
BUT what about stuck piston rings?????????????
I have just put a 1712cc sprint engine into my 1988 33 Veloce.Started after a while but is NOT happy on No.3 cylinder
I know that the 1.7's are prone to burning out exhaust valves,have had that before,so I suspected that to be the problem
BUT having spoken to the guy I bought the engine off,this lump has not been run for about eight to ten years!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been kept under cover and turned over and was complete when I bought it.SO,I therefore deduce sticking piston rings.I Am thinking to fill up No.3 with diesel and gently turn it over once in a while.
She starts and runs well with good oil pressure so that is why I now suspect stuck rings.
Anyone got anymore suggestions??????????
