My Beloved Sud QO needs help
I've got a 1980 QO who needs help. This was my first alfa and I love it so much I keep it Garaged with a 30% - 40% humidity tollerance. Four Insulations Keep it from touching the ground and its even covered inside. Its always clean and shiny and when I say clean, it means that the underneath of the car is also shiny, not even a spec of dirt or horrid rust.
Well to get to the point, I love it so much that I never take it out on wet roads and this time I over did it... I didn't start it for 2 years. Still changed the Oil, Filter, Plugs, Water.. the works but I never drove it.
Now its time for my MOT and I went to start her but .... nothing. The electrics are fine, the starter is new and turning, the carbs are clean and the plugs have been cleaned from carbon (only 100 miles on them).
I used a quick start spray to help the engine kick in but it only started for a couple of secs blowing lots of carbon out the exhaust. Nothing looks wrong, however it always gave me trouble when starting after long periods of not using it, but never like this.
Everything is original in the car, even the HT leads, I didn't bother to check the leads for current but I didn't think of it at the time. Clutch is ok, Gears ok, just it wont start. My Dad said it could be the Points in the Distributor or the coil but I'm not sure. My Garage is located 14 miles away from my home and It kinda takes me a while to get there.
Any Ideas how to get it to start, or where to start looking ?
Appreciate all your help, I'll send some pics of it next time.
