The hardtail was the only aspect I didn't like about the T4 trike - I would go for the double wishbones for preference, you could make a cradle that bolts through the bellhousing/middle gearbox mount to take the loads. Cut down the suspension strut, cap it off with a high angle Rose joint (or various Metro/Transit balljoints, the sky's the limit really) and lock the steering arms on the upright.
Hard to visualize without physically being in the presence of a sud gearbox in all its glory.
This is my next task: Try to get hold of a gearbox or casings so I can take some measurements and make some design decisions regarding the overall chassis design. This is going to send me back to the drawing board and the design process sort of ends come January.
The project started out as a VW based trike. It is now very close to a pure Alfasud based trike....Hey! but I KNOW it makes sense!
I hope you know YOU are responsible for most of this!
Seriously though, it has to be right and as I said in my last post, this part of the process is proving VERY positive - I'll get what I really want as opposed to something I'm only partially happy with.
I quite like the hardtail, makes the investment on the vw chassis a complete waste of money though. Sprung individual seats sounds like a cool compromise.
Woot! Bring it on....
