Yes it was. Road tax, another money making scam
don't get me started on it
"road fund license" it used to be called, a payment for the upkeep of the roads.
fair enough, we all use them.............but then why does my 2001 punto get charged £190 per year and newer cars get charged much, much less
some as low as £35, others NOTHING!!!!!!!
now, if it is for the upkeep of the roads (yes, right
) then why does y little punto wear them out more than a more modern car
the only fair way to do it would be to take it from the fuel, that way the people that use the roads the most will automatically pay the most. the little gran doing 500 miles per year wouldn't be ripped off while the 40k+ per year mile repmobile gets away paying half the money
plus it would do away with any "non-payers", winds me up when a car comes in to our place with an out of date tax disc, i have to say something
