mark, it's far too good to scrap. if they are talking mega money to repair it for you then try someone else. don't know how much you have been quoted, but paying for a restoration is never cheap but surely they can repair some things?? the spare wheel well only has a patch where the tow hook goes, no need at all to replace the whole thing.
don't be too rash in writing the car off, it is one of the best surviving sprints out there. if you bought another car it would have similar, or most likely worse rust to deal with. your front inner wing mounting rails for example are like new, there is so much to the car that is good, don't throw it away for the bad bits.
your rear panel does have a dent in it so that is feasible to replace it, but the rest can be repaired.
if you want jims number then let me know, if only to have a chat with him as he has seen most things and will give you an unbiased, honest opinion. i know he didn't want to take on any big jobs for a while now, having just got my car out of his way, but he may be worth asking.
