Re: Small DYI on Sprint.....
I have news..... Well i got jealous of Supercharge16v and his friends working together and i called John (jkbsprint) today on the phone and since we were both bored and available , he told me to go over his place . it was great chance to check if we could change the hinge or just have coffe and discuss about our cars.
So i got the spare parts and went to Johns place. We opened the door (with one hinge attached) and we tried to remove the first of the 3 bolts on the broken part of the hinge. John as more experienced he decided to use torx key because it seemed deformed and it would fit to the case.
Well we were prepared for the worst , as we didn't know if they have ever been unscrewed in 24 years . John applied a little pressure and..... it started to move!!! Easily in 10 sec the bolt was out... We were amazed, we tried the next one, the same it was out in 10 sec and the 3rd also. Wow!!! We were prepared to weld the bolds and the were out easily like new. so we got out spare hinge and started the opposite procedure but we didn't tighten them because we had to mount it on the door and that was the difficult part. Well this took about 10 minutes to tighten on the door side and then another 2 minutes on the side of the car.
After we finished in the hinge , we adjusted the door on the locking mechanism and we continued our coffee.
That was fun , and now the door works like a charm , better than new. Thanks John.
