Well we survived Epynt
Event didnt start to well when I couldnt remember putting the papaerwork in the car on the way down. Problem was I forgot to check until the Saturday morning and then guess what? I hadnt put it in
. As we were due to do the recce for the rally it meant the wife had to drive the rally car 100 miles back home to get the paperwork folder and the same back.
First stage was 19.9 miles. I soon discovered that the place is very different at speed.
Saying that we werent using pacenotes which every body else was I think we did quite well with numerous people telling me that there was no way they would go over Epynt without notes. The system we were using involved maps, line of site and memory for the brows and crests. If I and my co-driver thought it was flat then thats what we did. If either of us wasnt sure we didnt take it flat. System only failed us once. The crest was flat but second crest into 90 right onto bridge wasnt. We got away with it. What looks like plenty of room at 40mph suddenly diminishes at 100mph+
There is one bit of footage I have found of us at Dixies hairpin on youtube
rdp welsh rally epynt 2010
and its the 3:16 one we come in from about 3:00

RDP Welsh International Rally Mini Crashing by lambie 12345
We had a "moment" at exactly the same place 15mins before when the car landed badly and we had a few seconds of crossed arm work trying to decide where the back end was going and trying to catch it.
Eventually finished 40th O/A and 5th in class, 1st 1400 in the championship we are doing
Next planned event is the The Trinity Hyundai Rally of the Midlands on June 18 / 19th. Based in Hinckley and using MIRA, Mallory park, Bramcote barracks and somewhere else I think.
If things go to plan then I'm hoping to bring the car to NAD on June 6th
Hopefully either see some of you there or at a rally.
