The stock fuel sensor has a random resistance that bears almost no relation to the amount of fuel in the tank. Infact it could equally be used to drive a g-meter to tell how hard you're accelerating or braking.
If you find out how the fuel gauge system works though, I like to believe there'd be a way to average out the fuel level sloshings using some simple combination of a resistor and capacitor...
I don't have particulaly much electronics knowledge but I've daydreamed about constructing a digital dashboard. I just don't think it would suit the Alfa 33 visually.
